The small Pinscher ("pinscher" means "terrier" in German) existed in Germany and Scandinavia for centuries before the Miniature Pinscher emerged as a distinct breed. In 1895, the German Pinscher Klub was formed in Germany. Miniature Pinscher was recognized not long after. It looks like a miniature Doberman pinscher would look, but is not related. The miniature pinscher is a toy breed of dog and is a excellent rat catcher. The coat is short and the colors are black or chocolate, with tan markings; or solid red, or solid brown. The average miniature pinscher weighs about 8 lbs. and is 11 inches tall at the shoulder. The ears may or may not be cropped. The tail is docked. Scroll down to view. |
